Supra's New Launch 22SSV is
Bigger, Better and Badder

Knoxville, Tenn. - For the past five seasons, Supra's 22SSV remained largely unchanged. The Launch 22SSV found favor with both buoy heads and wakeboard riders neatly crossing over between both disciplines. With rider preferences rapidly changing, Supra Product Development Manager Matt Brown determined that radical changes were needed to the current model.

"For today's core wakeboard rider, bigger is simply better. We expect to see 1080's becoming the standard for performance at international competitions. We built the new Launch 22SSV with that stretch goal in mind," said Brown.

The Launch 22SSV has been redesigned along the lines of Supra's popular 24SSV. For 2007 it's 10 inches longer, three inches wider and 550 pounds heavier than its predecessor. With standard factory ballast bags fully filled, the new Launch 22SSV weighs in at nearly 6,000 pounds. "Athletic riders can't get enough of it. In the new 22SSV, we satisfy the need for big air, while at the same time retaining that nimble, quick feeling more typically associated with the traditional tournament ski boat," according to Brown.

Not only is this Supra designed to produce bigger air for its riders, it's also been engineered to provide cleaner air for both its passengers and riders. Supra is one of the first tournament boats to offer Indmar's ETX CAT 5.7-liter 340 horsepower V-8 engine with Multi-Port Fuel Injection and an Electronic Throttle as optional equipment on the base boat, and as standard equipment on the Limited Edition. The ETX CAT dramatically reduces emissions without loss of power, meeting the government's tough four-star emission standards.

The Launch 22SSV also features Supra's new helm station, which incorporates sports car styling with easily read oversized digital gauges. Traditional Supra touches like blackwood and billet pieces compliment the honed aluminum gauges.

"This boat is for the hardcore wakeboarder," says Josh Sanders, last year's King of the Wake champion. "It creates massive, tournament quality wakes with big meaty walls and firm lips. What else could a professional or serious wakeboarder want?"

The exclusive Supra Ride System, available on all Supras, features:

  • Deep Drop V Keel - the deepest keel in the industry with an entry point at 43 to 47 degrees for superior tracking and a smoother ride
  • Gravity III - a three-bag ballast system that can add up to 1,450 pounds at the push of a button allowing greater wake control
  • Perfect Pass - holds and remembers a rider's preferred speed
  • SmartPlate - optimizes hole shot and remembers rider wake plate preference, fine-tuning wakeshape to each individual's preference

Indmar - the most trusted name in marine engines - is used on all Supras. The V-drive, V8, 5.7-liter, 325 horsepower engine with EFI (electronic fuel injection) is standard on the 22SSV. Optional engines for the 22SSV include the 340 horsepower ETX/CAT and Indmar's 8.1-liter 450 horsepower V-8.

A new Milsco drivers seat swivels and incorporates a Hi-Riser bolster seat that dramatically enhances driver visibility. Seating in the boat now accommodates 15 people, while the Kenwood stereo system creates just the right sound to enhance the adrenalin rush that comes with performing spectacular tricks, driving at just the right speed or watching riders carve up the water.

While Supra offers the ultimate in luxury and performance, it still provides the most boat for the money in the high-end category. Here's what's been added as new standard features: deep pile fast-dry carpet available in two colors, larger glove box, stainless capped windshield frame, new interior lighting, more durable mooring cover, cast cleats and a dripless shaft seal.

A Z5 cargo rack can be added as optional equipment. A twin axle trailer with disc brakes and a swing-away tongue is standard equipment with this boat, as is the tower, new swivel board racks, a ski pylon, a fiberglass swim platform, full navigational lighting, and interior courtesy lighting. Storage areas are simply massive. As with all other Supra's the boat is 100 percent hand-laid fiberglass. There's a new charcoal grey gel color, and the Launch 22SSV can now be ordered with complimentary colors on deck, hull, and keel.
